So way back on Friday May 7 we went to get your haircut for the very first time. I was a bit worried and sad about the whole thing. I almost didn't allow it to happen. Hair is very important and I didn't want to make the wrong decision.
But Crystal, your stylist, put all our (my) fears at ease. She let me hold in my lap and you even wore a special penguin gown! Crystal said, "In 7 years since I've been cutting hair, she was the best first haircut I've ever done. She's so well behaved!"
I'm not making this up. You, the most well behaved first haircut client. I attribute this rare moment of stillness to your intense curiosity about the surroundings. You didn't have time to fight the cutting. Your eyes were wide and it seemed as if you were concentrating on figuring out what this place was and why you were there.
What did you deduct from your surroundings? What did you store in your memory from this event? You are a sponge, Nora. Everyday there is something new you do or say. Daddy clarified something for me today and I said "Ohhhh, I get it" and the next thing we hear is "ohhhh" in the same tone and length. An exact replica. Daddy and I looked down at you in amazement. How did you do that?
We celebrated your first haircut with dinner out. Somehow you took over my seat next to Daddy. I guess I should get used to it. Someone has Daddy wrapped around their little finger.....
