The Lu Turns 3

July is almost over. We have had a busy month. So I am cluster posting. Posting different events all at once. The first up: Lucy's 3rd Birthday on 4th of July. We did a repeat of our town's Old Fashioned 4 of July Celebration. An evening filled with fireworks and friends and sunsets on a hammock.

Oh Lu, if I could bottle you up right now and keep you three forever, I just might do it. You are such a joy and such a frustration and so perfectly you. I love watching you grow and play and sing and dance. Yes, you are three with a paci and pull ups but you are totally comfortable with who you are and don't need anyone's approval. You live your life by your own convictions. How are you so sure of yourself at three? You live your life by your own schedule and I am excited to see where you take yourself in the next year. And I know you don't work well with deadlines... but there is testing for PreK in January and it would be reallllllly great if you are pooping in the potty by then. I'm just putting it out to universe. Because if I have learned anything over the last 3 years of being your mom, I know I can't make you, guilt you, bribe you or convince you of doing anything you don't want to do.

Lucy, when you exploded into our world on the 4th of July 3 years ago I had no idea of what we were missing. How you somehow filled a hole we didn't know was there. You belong with us and I am so grateful you are here.
